Watering
The Sansevieria is a true survivor and needs very little water. In fact, too much water can be harmful to this plant. Always let the soil dry out completely between waterings. During winter, watering once a month is usually enough. Be sure that no water remains at the bottom of the pot, as this can lead to root rot.
When it comes to watering, less is more – the Sansevieria stores moisture in its thick, sturdy leaves and can easily go without for a while.
Light
The Sansevieria is not very demanding when it comes to light, but it thrives best in a bright spot. Bright, indirect light is ideal, though it can also tolerate shade. Avoid placing the plant in direct sunlight for too long, as this can cause leaf burn.
The more light it gets, the faster it will grow. In shadier spots, it will stay more compact.
The Sansevieria grows slowly but stays beautiful and healthy with just a bit of care. You can remove yellow or damaged leaves by cutting them close to the base. If the roots outgrow the pot, it’s time to repot. Usually every few years. Use a well-draining soil mix, such as one made for cacti and succulents.
Sansevierias are tough, low-maintenance plants. Perfect for anyone looking for a stylish and easygoing houseplant.
Misting
The Sansevieria originates from dry regions and does not require high humidity. Misting is not necessary, but it can help remove dust from the leaves. Even in dry indoor environments, it continues to grow just fine without extra care.
That makes it an ideal plant for offices and homes with low humidity.
